Lyon Croix-Rousse: between identities and utopias

Come and get lost in the alleys of one of the most iconic districts of Lyon: Croix-Rousse.

Between the plateau and the slopes, the inhabitants of that little paradise perched upon the hill and protected from the floods of the two rivers were the witnesses and actors of a history nourished by its opposition to the city of Lyon and a certain quest for social ideals.

The passageways and the little corners of the steep slopes have kept a trace, from the famous canuts to other rather excentric lyonnais people. What’s more, you will get to enjoy some spectacular views over the Capital of the Gauls.

Take your best shoes and come wander about from Croix-Rousse Square, as you wander around across intimate squares and passageways, to finish your tour in the Capucins district close to Terreaux Square.
